| When did you perform your first ballet? |
I was 13 years old, in my first year at the Royal Ballet school and it was a Royal Ballet School performance at the Opera House.
| What ballets did you get the chance to take part in during your time at White Lodge? |
The only Royal Ballet performance I took part in was Sleeping Beauty. I did, however, take part in School performances on the Opera House stage.
| Did everything just come naturally to you or were there things that took a long time to develop? |
I developed very slowly but believe that if you really want it, it will happen in time.
| Is it worth giving up late nights out and university life for hard work, when you may not make it to being a ballerina in the end? |
Only if you enjoy it.
| What do you do to stay calm and prepare yourself just before an important performance? |
I find speaking to myself at the side of the stage helps keep me calm and focused.
| What do you do to improve your dancing and to make the role that you are performing more real and believable? |
I try to read as much about the role as possible and, of course, listening to my coaches is very important, as they have so much knowledge.
| I have often wondered how difficult it is for dancers to get 'in character' before a dance. |
I find it is the music that always helps me get into a character.
| What kind of relationship do you have with the other principal ballerinas, and are soloists and corps de ballet jealous of your success? |
We all get on very well but are not close friends. I'm not aware of any jealousy within the company.
| Do you ever watch ballet other than the Royal Ballet? If so, what do you think of it? |
I try to see as many different companies as possible but I am always too critical.
| Do you have to warm down after a show or is straight home for supper |
I'll do a small stretch after a show and then it's home.
