Prima ballerina Darcey Bussell CBE and international opera superstar, Katherine Jenkins are thrilled to announce their plans to unite talents and create a musical called 'Viva La Diva'. This fusion of song and dance promises to produce the unexpected - and it will!
Industry luminaries, including Kim Gavin, will direct the duo to enhance the expertise that has raised Darcey and Katherine to the top of their fields and will introduce new talents they have never before revealed in public.
Darcey says, "Ballet has been my focus for 28 years. Now I am stepping into a variety of different styles of dance that I have always had a passion to perform. Katherine's voice has an exceptional quality and I'm very much looking forward to combining our very different talents".
Katherine says "I've admired Darcey since I was young, her movement and style are second to none and I'm thrilled to be working with her. We're both excited to be learning so much about each other's genres and I'm looking forward to working with Darcey on all creative aspects of the show".
Darcey Bussell CBE:
Darcey was educated at The Royal Ballet School, where the late Kenneth MacMillan spotted her exceptional technique. He then championed her early career leading to her become a Principal ballerina at the Royal Ballet by the age of 20. She has danced in major ballets all round the world. Her grace and ability to inject heart-wrenching emotion into her performances has won the affection of the British public making her the top ballerina in the country.
Katherine Jenkins:
Katherine was first discovered aged 12 when she became the BBC Welsh Choirgirl of the year. She has gone from strength to strength, performing at major international venues including the Sydney Opera House, producing four acclaimed albums, all of which entered the classical charts at number one. Two of which won album of the year at the Classic Brit awards. She has also become the ambassador for luxury accessories brand Montblanc and all this by the age of 26.
